Usable City Launch!

Welcome to Usable City, my new blog on the user experience. My goal here will be to encourage you to think about how design impacts you as you travel through your world. If you enjoy a post and it makes you think or see that world differently, please share it!

It’s the broken, unusable, awkward things that have the most to teach us (cryptic elevator buttons, frustrating TV remotes, cluttered boarding passes), so I expect to post more about design failures than anything else. I suppose I could have called this blog Unusable City but I’m an optimist and get the most joy and satisfaction in finding ways to make things work better, so you can also expect lots of solutions and suggestions. Ultimately, I prefer to see points of failure as opportunities to ask interesting questions and do good work rather than reasons to gripe.

Thanks for swinging by and stay tuned!

Neil
